2 States

2 States: Too shallow
Watched the much hyped movie version of Chetan Bhagat’s best-seller “2 States”. Well, I personally felt the book itself was not that good, and the movie did not do justice to the book even. So, think of the fate of the movie! At least, the book had some moments( or more) that were close to real life, and when it was cut-copied-pasted on to the silver screen, it was more of ‘reel’ life. For me, the film gave me back some past memories of my own life ( which I wanna forget!) and also, yea, almost 3 hours of boredom!
The book talks about the love relationship (not an ‘affair’) between a Tamil girl and a Punjabi boy and their struggles to get married by convincing their families, of two different states and cultures. The movie shows a love relationship between a ‘not-so-Tamilan’ girl ( Alia ) and a ‘not-so-Punjabi’ boy (Arjun). Personally, I am not a fan of both, but I felt Alia was much much better than Arjun. The casting was very bad at the first place. I am no one to suggest or envision anyone in those roles, but , for me, those two were not at all a fit. Most of the scenes did not have a proper build-up and everything happens in a flash. Falling in love, falling on bed, impressing the parents and so on. And I realized, that’s Bollywood for you.
If you love the usual Bollywood rom-com movies , go for this, as this is a bit more better than the usual ones. But if you wanna watch a good movie, please don’t go anywhere near the theatres.
PS: This is just my personal opinion. You can have criticize this view, but no #$@ words, please!
